The majority of responses were broadly positive and welcomed this new approach to the management of the Wyre Forest.

Common features raised ranged from those to do with how Wyre Forest is used for recreation and the pressures it brings to the Forest to querries over habitat proposals outlined in the plan through to economics of the plan and resources required to make it happen.

We did

Forestry Commission and Natural England have discussed the responses and amended the plan where appropriate.  The Forestry Commission are also begining a process of drawing up a recreational strategy for the Wyre although at the time of writing this the completion date is unknown.

Overview

Forest Plans define the long term vision for a woodland or a collection of woodlands and set out how management will move towards achieving this vision over the next ten years.

We would like to invite you or your organisation to leave some feedback on our proposed revision to the Forest Plan covering The WYRE FOREST. This forms part of our consultation with stakeholders, that helps to ensure that we achieve an appropriate balance of objectives.

Why your views matter

The Plan for Wyre Forest has come up for renewal. We are therefore asking for your feedback to ensure the objectives are considered and balanced for the proposals being put forward in this rewrite for this woodland.

It is also a requirement that all Forestry Commission woodlands are managed to the high standards needed to meet the UK Woodland Assurance Standard that in turn ensure sustainable forest management certification of the Public Forest Estate is maintained.

The draft Forest Plan is available to download below in PDF format on A4 or alternatively viewable alongside the consultation questions.

This part of the consultation will run for 43 days from 11th July 2016 and closing on: 22nd August 2016.

Any comments should be submitted through the online survey form before the closing date. Feedback received after the closing date may not be able to be considered.

What happens next

The online consultation has now closed. We are examining the feedback and where possible, will incorporate suggestions into the Forest Plan.

We will then submit the Forest Plan to Forest Services, the regulatory arm of the Forestry Commission, for any further consultation required prior to approval.

The final plan will published on the Forestry Commission website.
