Whinlatter Forest Plan 2018

Closed 1 Dec 2018

Opened 11 Sep 2018

Forest Plans define the long term vision for a woodland or a collection of woodlands and set out how management will move towards achieving this vision over the next ten years.

We would like to invite you or your organisation to leave some feedback on our proposed revision to the Forest Plan covering Whinlatter. This forms part of our consultation with stakeholders, that helps to ensure that we achieve an appropriate balance of objectives.

Why We Are Consulting

The Plan for Whinlatter has come up for renewal. We are therefore asking for your feedback to ensure the objectives are considered and balanced for the proposals being put forward in this rewrite for this woodland.

It is also a requirement that all Forestry Commission woodlands are managed to the high standards needed to meet the UK Woodland Assurance Standard that in turn ensure sustainable forest management certification of the Public Forest Estate is maintained.

The draft Forest Plan is available to download below in PDF format.

This part of the consultation will run for 11/09/18 until 08/10/18.

The closing date for this consultation has now been extended until 1/12/18

Any comments should be submitted through the online survey form before the closing date. Feedback received after the closing date may not be able to be considered.

What Happens Next

The online consultation has now closed. We are examining the feedback and where possible, will incorporate suggestions into the Forest Plan.

We will then submit the Forest Plan to Forest Services, the regulatory arm of the Forestry Commission, for any further consultation required prior to approval.

The final plan will published on the Forestry Commission website.
