New woodland - Newton Wood

Thanks for your interest in our proposals for Newton Wood, a new woodland we are planning to create near Newton-on-the-moor in Northumberland.

We have now carefully considered all the responses we received to our recent public consultation. These have been summarised into a consultation report together with our response to the key issues raised, which can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

We will shortly be submitting our proposals for regulatory review by the Forestry Commission ahead of planting the new woodland.  As our plans progress, we will update our website here

Your feedback, as well as site surveys, will help shape the design proposal for how the new woodland could look.  Forestry England value your comments and feedback.  For those that would like to view the plans in person, and speak to a member of our team, please come along to our public consultation event on Thursday 18th June 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at Jubilee Hall, Newton-on-the-Moor, Morpeth, NE65 9JY

What happens next

The consultation will close at midnight on Sunday 28th June 2026. All responses will be summarised and included in a consultation report along with our response to the key issues raised and published on the consultation portal. Consultation feedback and further surveys will help shape the design proposal we will submit to the Forestry Commission for regulatory review ahead of planting the new woodland.
