Croft Forest Plan Amendment

Closed 11 Dec 2013

Opened 13 Nov 2013

Overview

Forest Plans define the long term vision (usually 50 years) for a woodland or a collection of woodlands and set out how management will move towards achieving this vision over the forthcoming decades.

We would like to invite you or your organisation to leave some feedback on our proposed amendment to the Forest Plan covering Croft Wood in Herefordshire.  This forms part of our consultation with stakeholders, that helps to ensure that we achieve an appropriate balance of objectives.

Why your views matter

An amendment has been drawn up in close partnership with the National Trust in order to achieve restoration of a more open landscape akin to that of Wood Pasture in the area north of Croft Castle extending to the Iron Age Hill Fort at Croft Ambrey on the northern boundary of Croft Wood. We are therefore asking for your feedback to ensure the objectives are considered and balanced for the proposals being put forward in this amendment to the existing Croft Wood Forest Plan.

It is also a requirement that all Forestry Commission woodlands are managed to the high standards needed to meet the UK Woodland Assurance Standard that in turn ensure sustainable forest management certification of the Public Forest Estate is maintained.

Several documents are available to download below and please note most are on A3.

This part of the consultation will run for 28 days from Wednesday 13 November to Wednesday 11 December.

Any comments should be submitted through the online survey form before the closing date.

Feedback received after the closing date will not be able to be considered.

What happens next

The online Stakeholder Consultation has now closed.  We are examining the feedback and where possible, will incorporate suggestions into the Forest Plan.

We will then submit the Forest Plan to Forest Services, the regulatory arm of the Forestry Commission, for any further consultation required prior to approval.
